benny Vasquez is Chair of the Board of Directors of the AlmaLinux OS Foundation, elected to lead the community-owned enterprise Linux project in October 2021 after joining its board earlier that year. Sponsored full time in the role since 2023, she has strengthened the foundation's operational and structural resiliency, deepened its community-centric governance, and represents AlmaLinux across the open source and enterprise infrastructure world. She previously served as an Open Source Security Program Manager at Microsoft, contributing to the OpenSSF. With more than 20 years in hosting, support, and community leadership, benny built the community engagement function at cPanel — where she grew the cPanel Conference, launched its Slack and Discord communities, and managed a near-million-dollar annual budget — and led community and developer relations at Chef Software and Progress. Her career began at Liquid Web, where she built the Monitoring department and the Sonar monitoring product from scratch and served as the company's first Lead Evangelist and Quality Control Supervisor. She is based in Lansing, Michigan.
